Williams comes through

Everett Williams struck out his first time up against Allen Webster.

He made a slight adjustment his second trip to the plate, and had a much better result.

"I told myself I would scoot up in the box and if he leaves it hanging, I'll swing at it," Williams said.

Williams hit a solo home run, the only run in the game, as the TinCaps beat Great Lakes 1-0 in Game 1 in the first round of the Eastern Division playoff series.

Fort Wayne had three hits, but Williams made his count.

"Webster kept us off balanced all night long. He was stellar," TinCaps manager Jose Flores said. "He just made one mistake, a 1-0 change-up to Williams."
