Mastodon tracks

Courtney back on court

One of the top scorers in IPFW women's basketball history is coming back to the basketball program, but in a different role.

Courtney Nicley, whose 1,018 career points rank 13th on the all-time Mastodons scoring list, returns to IPFW, but this time as a member of Chris Paul's coaching staff.

The four-year letter winner was the head coach at Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, Ky., before returning to IPFW, where she will be in charge of recruiting, as well as handling scouting chores.

In a university statement, Paul said of Nicley: "She is an Indiana kid (Lebanon), and knows the state very well. She can look a recruit in the eyes and tell them that she spent four years here as a player, and the program grew every year, and she liked it so much that she wanted to come back and help the program make the turn in becoming a successful Division I program."

Before she went to the Kentucky school to coach, Nicley spent two years as an assistant at Grace.
