Funeral for Huntington soldier to be Sunday

Funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday at Huntington North High School for a Huntington soldier who died last week.

Army Pfc. Chad Clements, 26, was killed by a roadside bomb Aug. 30 while on a mission in Afghanistan.

Clements, who was deployed Aug. 5, died when an improvised bomb tore apart a Humvee traveling through the Arghandab River Valley.

Four other soldiers died in the blast. The Arghandab River Valley is a Taliban stronghold that contains numerous land mines.

A visitation for Clements will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the high school auditorium, 450 MacGahan St. A service will follow at the high school.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Huntington.

Clements, a 2002 graduate of Huntington North, joined the Army in February 2009 and was stationed in Afghanistan with the motor transport unit.
