Infant's death under investigation

Fort Wayne police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old infant, according to police spokeswoman Officer Raquel R. Foster.

Police were called to the 5300 block of Northcrest Drive about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday on a report of an infant not breathing.

An officer arrived at the house, found the infant unresponsive and called for assistance.

Medics determined the baby was in critical condition. The infant was taken to a hospital and later died, Foster said.

Cause and manner of death will be determined by the Allen County Coroner's Office.

The death remains under investigation by the police, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the county coroner.
