Norwell girls soccer gets OT win

Norwell’s Kylee Byerly scored in overtime to give the host Knights a 2-1 win over New Haven on Wednesday in girls soccer.

The two teams were tied at 1 in regulation after goals by Norwell’s Lauren Johnson in the first half and New Haven’s Jessica Cox in the second half. The two keepers were solid with Norwell’s Haley Heller getting 14 saves, and New Haven’s Karisa Jacquay nine. Norwell’s Caitlin Ailor had an assist.

Girls golf

HOMESTEAD 193, NEW HAVEN 202: The Spartans improved to 5-1 in the NHC with a win at Orchard Ridge. Homestead (7-1 overall) was led by Karley Dobis’ 42.

Girls soccer

HOMESTEAD 7, BELLMONT 0: The host Spartans had seven different players score goals in the rout of the Braves. Kelsi Stephens and Marce Patrick each had a goal and an assist.

Tennis

DWENGER 3, NORWELL 2: The host Saints got two three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles to beat the Knights. Bertram Najev beat Reid Imel at No. 1, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and Nathan Fenker won at No. 3 over Tanner Bowen, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Volleyball

NORWELL 3, SOUTH SIDE 0: The Knights got 12 kills from Lauren Klansek in the 25-14, 25-10, 25-13 win over the visiting Archers. Norwell improved to 10-4.
