Police were investigating a complaint by a woman who claimed Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil grabbed her arms in an elevator at the Las Vegas Hilton, but Hilton vice president Kenneth Ciancimino said Thursday surveillance video showed the allegation was not true.

Neil, 49, wasn’t arrested after police took statements Sunday from the woman and two other people regarding the misdemeanor battery complaint, Las Vegas police Officer Barbara Morgan said.

The police investigation remained open.

Pratt apologizes

Former “The Hills” star Spencer Pratt is apologizing to his estranged wife, Heidi Montag, for acting out in their breakup.

They separated in May after one year of marriage. Montag cited irreconcilable differences when she filed for separation in June. Pratt said he would release a sex tape featuring Montag.

The 27-year-old Pratt tells The Associated Press in an e-mail sent Wednesday the demise of their relationship was so painful he wanted to lash out. He admits making “certain private issues public” and “horribly embarrassing the one person who meant the world to me.”

A girl for guitarist

Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney and wife Tiffany Fallon have a new baby.

Fallon gave birth to a healthy girl named Raquel Blue early Tuesday morning.

New Smith singer

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s 9-year-old daughter, Willow Smith, has signed a recording deal with Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation.

Her first song was released this week. It’s called “Whip My Hair.”

Weatherman returns

CBS News says weatherman Mark McEwen will return to “The Early Show” for his first nationally televised weathercast since a near-fatal stroke five years ago.

The network says McEwen’s visit Saturday will include an interview focusing on his difficult recovery.

Singer snooped on

Ohio officials say public employees snooped in confidential state records on homegrown “American Idol” runner-up Crystal Bowersox.

Two workers were ousted after the breaches were discovered, including a licensing bureau employee who has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge.

Lt. Gary Lewis of the State Highway Patrol said Thursday that the agency audited databases in May and found files on Bowersox had been improperly accessed eight times.
