Chase banking customers were denied online access to their accounts for hours as of 3 p.m. today. Spokesman Tom Kelly said the problem started Monday night.
“It’s a technical issue that we’re working on,” he said. He described the situation as “a high priority” for the New York-based company.
Kelly said no customer data was compromised while the website was offline. He declined to say whether it was a hardware or a software problem.
Kelly encouraged customers to call telephone bankers or go to a branch for assistance. JPMorgan Chase & Co. operates the nation’s second-largest consumer bank. Only Bank of America is larger.
