Verbatim: Fort Wayne vehicle supplier to double space

Statement issued Tuesday:

Fort Wayne, Ind. (September 14, 2010) — VOSS Automotive announced today that it is expanding its Fort Wayne facility. S & W Investments, owner of the building at 7625 DiSalle Boulevard, are working with the company to add an additional 12,000 sq. ft. to the existing 12,000 sq. ft. of office, lab and warehouse space. Project construction will begin this month and is scheduled to be completed by November of this year. As a result of this expansion, VOSS Automotive will add several new positions while retaining the current workforce.

“We will benefit immensely from this expansion and will have the capability to focus on EPA Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology at a much higher output level,” said Eduardo Vultorius, chief executive officer for VOSS Automotive. “Fort Wayne has provided the right environment for us to not only maintain during difficult economic times, but to achieve significant growth.” VOSS Automotive is a global supplier of SCR systems, fuel lines and connectors for the vehicle manufacturing industry. The company specializes in SCR technology, which significantly reduces nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases. SCR applications are used for diesel based commercial vehicles, passenger cars, construction/agricultural equipment, defense vehicles, marine vessels and industrial equipment.

“Voss Automotive represents precisely the type of company on which our community’s proud history is built. High-tech, automotive engineering is in our blood, and we are pleased to have Voss call Fort Wayne home as they expand their facility and workforce,” said Mayor Tom Henry.

The City of Fort Wayne, through the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance, will consider phasing in taxes on the expansion project. VOSS Automotive could realize $29,072 in personal property tax savings and $49,551 on real property tax savings over a 10 year period if its abatement request is approved. The company’s tax abatement request will be introduced at tonight’s Fort Wayne Common Council meeting in the City County Building.
