Double feature

Notre Dame backup tight end Tyler Eifert recorded his first college reception in Saturday's loss to Michigan.

The former Bishop Dwenger standout made a nice leaping grab in traffic and held on for a 17-yard gain.

Coach Brian Kelly said Eifert is somebody who could help Notre Dame as the season progresses, and the best way to use him will likely be in a two-tight end set with Kyle Rudolph.

"I'm not taking Rudolph off field, so I think you would have Eifert on the field a little bit more in some two-tight end sets," Kelly said. "He is an outstanding receiver. I think as we become more comfortable with the players and developing our players, he's a guy that I think you will see more as the year goes on."
