Wild third leaves score tied

Notre Dame and Michigan just couldn't stop scoring in the third quarter.

But neither team could gain an advantage as the Irish and Spartans enter the fourth quarter tied at 21.

The two teams combined for only 14 points in the first half, and they matched that total less than three minutes into the third quarter.

Spartans running back Edwin Baker ran for a 56-yard touchdown 40 seconds into the third quarter.

The Irish responded with a six-play, 74-yard drive that was capped by tight end Kyle Rudolph's 10-yard TD catch with 12:25 to play in the quarter.

Michigan State then used 6:29 to score on an 11-play, 73-yard drive that ended with a 16-yard scoring run by Le'Veon Bell, but Notre Dame responded with a 4:16 drive that covered 77 yards on 11 plays and was capped by Theo Riddick's 15-yard touchdown catch.
