Indiana quarterback Ben Chappell has been named to the 2010 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, honoring off-the-field community achievements in college football. He is one of the 22 athletes chosen nationally out of 112 nominees.
Chappell is the second Hoosier in as many years to receive recognition for the award. Jammie Kirlew earned the honor last year.
As a member of the team's Leadership Council, he played a large role in organizing the program's two community initiatives - visiting Riley's Children's Hospital in Indianapolis and welcoming the Bloomington Boys & Girls Club to Memorial Stadium each season. He has also volunteered each of the last three years at the Coach Hep Cancer Challenge.
"This is an outstanding and well-deserved honor for Ben," Indiana coach Bill Lynch said in a statement. "He is a special young man and his contributions to our program and Indiana University are immeasurable. We are extremely proud as a program to have had Ben and Jammie on this team in back-to-back seasons."
