Donate scarves for 2012 Super Bowl volunteers

Super Bowl XLVI in 2012 will be at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and the host committee wants to give each of the game's 8,000 volunteers a hand knitted or crocheted scarf.

There are specific color requirements, and there are yarn stores throughout the state that are offering the appropriate colored yarns. Don't fret, if you're on a budget and regular worsted weight yarn is more your speed, you can always pick up good old Red Heart Super Saver E300 – Color 0311 White and Color 0385 Royal Blue. The yarn stores that are listed as participating in the Super Scarves project have available Cascade 220 - Color 8505 White and Color 9457 Blue.

The scarves are to be in these colors and should not have any team-specific designs on them.

In northeast Indiana, the following yarn stores are participating:

Knitting Off Broadway: 1309 Broadway, Fort Wayne

The Yarnery: 119 W Maumee St., Suite A, Angola

260-316-6139 or 260-316-5551.
