New Haven Classic on Saturday

The seventh annual New Haven Cross Country Classic will be held Saturday at the course near The Plex.

The meet runs the same course that is used for the New Haven Semistate later this season. It includes some of the best runners and teams in the northern part of the state.

Last year, more than 1,900 high school and middle school runners competed and a turnout of more than 2,000 is expected.

The middle school races start at 9 a.m., with the girls varsity at 10 a.m., boys varsity at 11 a.m. and the reserve races at noon.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m.
