Danny Hope didn't offer specifics on quarterback Robert Marve's knee injury before practice Sunday, but the Purdue coach did say that the "early prognosis is not really encouraging."
Marve will have an MRI on Monday, Hope said.
Hope expects Marve to miss at least some time, and Rob Henry will start in Marve's place.
Marve was injured late in the first quarter of a 31-20 loss to Toledo on Saturday. On the play, Toledo's Elijah Jones came free up the middle, forcing Marve to try to avoid contact. Marve collapsed in pain before Jones touched him.
Hope said Sunday that Purdue's offensive line had a blown assignment on the play, allowing Jones to get into the backfield unblocked.
(bullet) Hope couldn't offer more clarity on receiver Justin Siller's injury. After catching a pass and then spinning to avoid a tackler, Siller went down. He was helped off the field, though it was difficult to tell which foot he was favoring. He didn't get carted off the field. A healthy Siller could be important, considering he's a former quarterback and Purdue could use the depth without Marve.
