Eyeing IU

Decision leads to tying touchdown

When you convert, you are called gutsy. When you don’t, there are other, more critical, terms used.

Indiana had time for one play. The Hoosiers had the ball at Michigan’s 2. It was third down. Four seconds were left.

Kick the field goal or go for the touchdown?

Indiana decided to go for the touchdown. It paid off as Ben Chappell completed a 2-yard pass to Damarlo Belcher to send Saturday’s game with Michigan into halftime tied at 21.

Michigan took a 21-14 lead by capitalizing on Chappell’s first interception of the season. Cameron Gordon intercepted the pass in the Hoosiers’ end zone.

The Wolverines then went 81 yards, capped by a 3-yard pass from Robinson to Kevn Koger with 2:34 left in the half.

Indiana then went to work. Chappell had completions of 17, 24 and 13 yards during the drive. When it came to decision time, the Hoosiers didn’t blink. They sent Belcher out alone to the right. Chappell looked his way all along. Belcher made a nice diving catch in the right corner to tie the game.
