All five Fort Wayne players who had been in training camps with American Hockey League teams have been cut and will join the Komets by Tuesday, general manager David Franke said, as the team prepared to take the ice for the first day of practice this afternoon.
The players who had been in the AHL are goaltender Kevin Reiter, defenseman Craig Cescon and forwards Mathieu Curadeau, Derek Patrosso and Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock.
Reiter and Patrosso are already in Fort Wayne.
Check back tonight -- I'm working the evening shift -- and I will have much more on the opening of camp.
But I can tell you this much: All games that are broadcast this season will be on 1190 AM, so no more switching back and forth between stations; the Komets have already sold more than 6,000 tickets for the regular-season opener against Rapid City, so get your tickets soon; and the Zamboni is now sponsored by Midwest America Federal Credit Union instead of Seyfert's.
