Richard Council will be out for an "extended period of time" with a knee injury, Indiana coach Bill Lynch said during Tuesday's Big Ten teleconference.
Council suffered the injury while defending Michigan wide receiver Junior Hemingway on a 42-yard reception that set up the Wolverines' game-winning score in Saturday's 42-35 contest.
"We've tried to develop depth at the corner spot and we've played different guys though the year. We'll have some competition between several guys who have played there and see how it shapes out at the end of the week," Lynch said.
"Right now Adrian Burks would be the next guy up. He's a fifth-year senior and has played a lot of football. Matt Ernest on the other side. Greg Heban has really made strides throughout the year."
Lynch said Andre Kates is another option, but he would prefer to keep Bishop Luers graduate Lawrence Barnett and Lenyatta Kiles at safety. The two were moved from corner to safety prior to the start of the season.
"The guys inside played corner a long time, but at this point we're looking to keep them at safety," Lynch said.
