Notre Dame will debut its new game uniform from adidas in Saturday's home game against Western Michigan.
The company bills its new TECHFIT jerseys as 30 percent lighter than a standard jersey, allowing players to be quicker and faster. In addition, the jersey keeps players cool with integrated ventilation zones and moisture management fabric and reduced seams, and a restriction-free, high-stretch collar design increases range of motion to support player agility and speed.
The Irish offensive players broke in the jerseys Wednesday, and Kelly said the defensive players will be wearing the jerseys Thursday to account for fitting issues over pads.
"They are really excited about them," Kelly said of the players' reaction to the jerseys. "They are 30 percent lighter, the adidas jersey. It's a compression fit.
"They look great, the kids love them.… It's a terrific product by adidas."
