IU trails at end of first

It was not the homecoming scene Indiana had envisioned.

IU trails Arkansas State 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.

A smattering of boos could be heard at Memorial Stadium as kicker Mitch Ewald lined up for a 20-yard field goal.

Indiana had taken over in prime position, taking over at Arkansas State’s 5 following an interception by Mitchell Evans. The Hoosiers gained three yards and settled for a field goal.

The Red Wolves moved the ball with ease in their opening drive. Arkansas State went 85 yards in 12 plays. Quarterback Ryan Aplin scored on a 1-yard run to give Arkansas State the 7-0 lead.
