Sooners. But later?
Well, the first BCS poll of the season is out, and Oklahoma is No. 1. Oregon (my pick for No. 1, and the Associated Press’ pick) is No. 2. Boise State is No. 3.
In light of that, here are three reactions from me:
1. I have no idea why Oklahoma is No. 1. Presumably it has something to do with computers. Or tea leaves.
2. At least we won’t be hearing any of the increasingly tedious "How can Boise State be No. 1?" yowling from the usual suspects today. Look, the Broncos are good, and so what if they don’t play powerhouses like San Jose State and Marshall, the way Alabama and Ohio State did earlier this year. Get over it.
3. The only thing more worthless than a BCS poll in October -- especially in as volatile a season as this one -- is a BCS poll, period. Or a BCS.
