Komets pick up 3 points in Arizona

The Komets’ first trip West since the 1990s saw them get three of a possible four points, going 1-0-1 against the Arizona Sundogs at Prescott Valley, Ariz.

In Saturday’s 2-1 Fort Wayne victory at Tim’s Toyota Center, all three goals were scored on power plays.

Komets defenseman Frankie DeAngelis opened the scoring at 3:11 of the first period, and forward Derek Patrosso made it 2-0 at 11:59 of the second period.

Arizona defenseman Tyler Butler finished the scoring at 18:57 of the second period.

Komets goalie Nick Boucher stopped 30 of 31 shots.

Including Arizona’s 2-1 overtime victory Friday, the teams combined for 55 penalties, 129 minutes and 35 power plays.

The Komets are 1-1-1 in their first Central Hockey League season. Arizona is 2-2-0.
