So it looks like Brett Favre might not have been milking his limp Sunday after all. Or at least not as much as usual.
Word out of Minnesota is that he has two fractures in his ankle, which jeopardizes his NFL-record ironman streak of 315 consecutive starts, including playoffs.
Apparently there's still a chance he could play if they shoot up the ankle. But having watched him Sunday, you've got to wonder if the time has finally come for him to sit down.
Tarvaris Jackson might not be much of an improvement at this point, but at least he's mobile. Favre isn't, and he's not going to be. So he's basically a sitting duck back there -- and since he's not going to be able to plant very well, he's not likely to throw the ball that well, either.
So unless it's all just ego with him (and it usually is), he'd probably be doing his struggling team a favor by sitting. But of course, it's never about the team with him, at least not anymore.
My prediction, therefore: Gimp-a-long Brett answers the bell again Sunday.
