Investigation will 'take time'

Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said there is a lot to learn after the death of Declan Sullivan, the 20-year-old student who died while video taping Wednesday's football practice.

Swarbrick said a thorough investigation is underway to find out what led to a lift from Sullivan was filming being used on a windy day, how it fell over and what can be done in the future.

"It will take the time it will take to make sure we understand what happened," Swarbrick said during a Thursday news conference. "We will let (the investigation) run its course, then have the ability to learn and move forward."

Notre Dame will play its 2:30 p.m. home game against Tulsa on Saturday.

But the university has canceled Thursday's post-practice interview with coach Brian Kelly, who will not do his weekly radio show.

The university has also canceled Friday's luncheon and pep rally.
