Quad City hands K’s road loss


Quad City scored twice on power plays and one short-handed goal to top the visiting Komets 4-2 Friday.

Mathieu Curadeau and Leo Thomas scored goals for Fort Wayne (1-2-1).

Quad City jumped ahead on a short-handed goal by Zac Pearson at 14:03 of the first period. Eric Giosa and Tyler Townsend assisted.

Pearson and Patrik Levesque assisted on Tyler Kindle’s power-play goal to give Quad City a 2-0 lead at 3:12 of the second period.

Curadeau scored on a power play for the Komets to cut the deficit in half at 11:02 of the second. Guy Dupuis and P.C. Drouin assisted.

The Mallards (2-3) scored another power-play goal late in the second period. Ryan Palmer scored at 19:16. Brandon Marino and Tyler Kindle assisted.

Thomas scored at 2:54 of the third period. It was the first even-strength goal for Fort Wayne this season. Frankie DeAngelis and Brandon Warner assisted.

Pearson scored his second goal at 19:45, assisted by Marino and Joel Gasper. The Komets return to action Friday at home against Bloomington.

Notes: The Komets activated defensemen Keith Rodger and David Cianfrini from the 10-day injured reserved. Olivier Legault and Danko Mironovic were placed on 10-day injured reserved.
