Boiler Bits: Brittany Rayburn

Junior Brittany Rayburn answered the random questions at the Big Ten media day last week in Chicago.

When was the last time you pulled an all-nighter? In high school. I would never think about doing that here because you've got practice the next day. It's not going to work. I get close but never in college.

What word makes you cringe? Baseline.

Is it a drill? "Get on the baseline" means we're running. I don't like that word. (laughs)

What happens when you die? I hope to go to heaven. I pray that every day.

What's in your closet? Shoes, a lot of tennis shoes. I'm a shoe person. If I go shopping, I don't care about clothes. I just want shoes.

What do you buy? I have a lot of Nike Shox.

Don't you get free shoes? Yeah. We've got those, too. (laughs) I'm really bad at that. I just like shoes. We get a lot of different shoes, but we don't get to pick those shoes.

Do you have different colors you can wear with different things? It's mainly black, white, grey, sort of neutral colors. You've got some wild ones, but not that much. Kind of bland.

What's been the weirdest fan request? When we sold our pink jerseys (for breast cancer awareness), they wanted it dirty. That was weird to me. I said, 'All right, are you sure? It will smell because I just played a game in that.' So I think that was the weirdest request I've ever had.

What's the most important feature in a car? That's a tough one. Um, let's see. Cruise control. I have to have cruise. I'm spoiled, but I like cruise.

Do you karaoke? No.

That was one of the most emphatic answers I've gotten to this. I should post the audio. I don't sing out loud. If someone might sneak in the back of my car, then they might hear me singing. But I'm not going to sing karaoke.

(Teammate Drey Mingo, sitting next to Rayburn, then says, "Brittany, I've heard you singing Jason Derulo once in the locker room, and you didn't think anybody there.")

How was it? Mingo: It was good. Rayburn: Thanks, Drey.

Alex Guyton said to ask you, Drey, about her singing abilities. She re-mixes songs all the time. Rayburn: I can't imagine being in your apartment. Mingo: She re-mixed Chris Brown's "Deuces," and it got stuck in everyone's head for about a month. It was terrible.
