Verbatim: Park Center cuts 53 positions

Statement issued Tuesday:

Park Center announces that 53 positions have been eliminated through an organizational restructuring. This was necessitated due to a shift in state funding methods that went into effect in July. The resulting loss of income left Park Center in the position of having to take $2.4 million out of its budget during the last half of their fiscal year.

Park Center is a Community Mental Health Center that has heavily focused on serving severely mentally ill adults in the community. It was these types of services that were most heavily impacted by the shifts in state funding.

Park Center has restructured services to try to maintain as much care as possible with the reduced staff.

Park Center currently has approximately 400 staff and budget of $24 million.
