Preview of exhibition opener against Franklin

Indiana plays its first exhibition game of the year Wednesday against Franklin College.

"We want to get some confidence out of it," sophomore forward Christian Watford said. "We want to win, we want to have fun with each other. Team chemistry, playing with each other.

Franklin, a Division III program, went 8-18 last year. The Grizzlies return their top four scorers from last year.

"They like to get out and run," sophomore forward Derek Elston said. "They have a lot of kids who are scrappy, like to get rebounds. We'll just see how we are, how we've been doing in practice, scrapping. How we match up with them. And see how our toughness is compared to last year."

IU will be without guard Verdell Jones, who is recovering from an ankle injury.
