Allen’s one among three 5-star libraries
If theres any resident still unconvinced that Allen County Public Library is a top-notch library system, more evidence comes from Library Journals third annual index of public library service. The rating gives five stars to the county-wide library system – one of just three Indiana libraries to earn that distinction.
Bell Memorial Public Library in Kosciusko County is also a five-star finisher. Butler Public Library, Ligonier Public Library and Waterloo-Grant Township Public Library each earned four stars, while the North Manchester Public Library earned three.
Allen County Public Library is ranked among systems with annual budgets between $10 million and $30 million. The index is based on 2008 data, examining circulation, visits, program attendance and Internet use.
The ranking isnt an anomaly: Hennens American Public Library Ratings, based on 15 measures, ranks Allen Countys system the 8th best in the country among systems serving between 250,000 and 500,000 residents.
