Apparently he was in South Bend yesterday, masquerading as Notre Dame president John Jenkins.
It was Jenkins, after all, who released a statement saying that Notre Dame was responsible for videographer Declan Sullivan's death.
Well ... duh.
An observation: This was Notre Dame's attempt to avoid pinning the responsibility on any one individual -- like, say, its football coach, whom it just hired and to whom it owes a boatload of cash. By saying Notre Dame was responsible, Jenkins is essentially saying no one really is.
Another observation: That said, once the report comes out, it's likely someone's head will roll, either Kelly's or Jack Swarbrick's. One or the other won't survive this because ultimately someone was responsible for this young man's death, and so someone will have to take the fall. And unless it's one of the people in charge, the heat on Jenkins won't subside.
