Verbatim: Water main break closes secion of Sherman Blvd.

Statement issued Monday afternoon:

Fort Wayne, Ind. – A water main break in the 2400 block of Sherman Boulevard has forced Sherman to be closed between West State Boulevard and Goshen Avenue. The pipe runs under the middle of the street and crews have had to close the street to traffic in both directions.

Motorists should make alternate plans and use West State Boulevard to Clinton Street when heading downtown or Superior Street to Lafayette when heading north.

Customers in the 2300 to 2500 block of Sherman and 900 to 1000 blocks of Irene and Clayton may experience some interruption of service.

The break was discovered around 1:30 PM this afternoon. City Utilities expects the repair to be complete by 9:00 pm this evening.
