Purdue hasn't lost an exhibition game with Matt Painter as its head coach.
The Boilermakers are 14-0 in preseason games against college teams. They'll get the Division II No. 20 Midwestern State tonight. The Mustangs played Baylor within 68-59 in an exhibition game on Thursday, though Baylor was without star LaceDarius Dunn.
It'd be nice for Purdue to have played a team with some size in the exhibition season, but that won't happen. Midwestern State's tallest player is 6-foot-7.
Instead, watch to see how JaJuan Johnson defends on the perimeter and how Purdue's other post players, 6-9 Travis Carroll and 6-8 Patrick Bade, match up.
Redshirt freshman Sandi Marcius, a 6-9, 257-pounder, isn't participating in pre-game warmups. I thought I heard him mention before the game to a friend that he re-sprained his ankle. That's not good. That ankle kept him from practicing for a couple weeks before the first exhibition game.
Maybe more than anyone on the roster, Marcius needs minutes. So it won't be good if he doesn't play tonight, which would seem to be the case.
