Senior Kenny Mullen has the ability to score from anywhere on the field for Bishop Luers, evidenced in a 55-14 regional rout of Tipton on Friday.
The IU recruit fielded a punt near the 44-yard line in the first half Friday and stood around for a bit. The return was designed to go toward Luers' bench – his right. But that side was bunched up.
"I had to kind of read and see which way I was more comfortable going, and I found a lot of field to the other side. So I took off that way," Mullen said.
He got a leveling block from Mattox to clear some space and then weaved through defenders, fought off a facemask and scored.
One of many spectacular plays in a season full of them for Luers.
"I feel like every play could be a special play with this team," Mullen said. "The great blocks set up great returns."
