So, I reviewed the tape of the fracas between Colorado and Tulsa last night, which resulted in former Komets goaltender Tyler Sims getting 27 minutes in penalties.
Click here to see the box. And, yes, he is the son of Fort Wayne coach Al Sims.
What happened was Colorado's Chris Hau blindsided a Tulsa player in the Oilers' zone, and Sims dashed out of the crease to defend him. That resulted in the first fight. Then Colorado's goalie, Andrew Penner, came the length of the ice to fight Sims.
The funny part was Penner went to center ice to showboat and fell down. Oops.
Anyway, looked like a gutsy and appropriate move by Sims to me. Neither fight was noteworthy for anything other than it made for a cool box score.
