Defense doing well

Purdue may be on a losing streak, but coach Danny Hope thinks his defense has been playing well enough for the team to win.

Last week, the Boilermakers held Michigan's high-powered offense to 140 yards fewer than its average and scored a defensive touchdown. Against Wisconsin, Purdue led at halftime thanks to its defense stifling the Badgers' rushing attack. In the game, Purdue held Wisconsin to about 50 yards less than its average rushing.

"These past couple of weeks for the defense has been really fun because we've been just flying around and had to face such good offenses that it has been a fun challenge to embrace," end Ryan Kerrigan said.

Offensive tackle Dennis Kelly said members of the offense feel bad knowing how well the defense is playing and, "they're really not getting the same from us statistically."
