Hummel's surgery a success

The orthopedic surgeon who performed knee surgery on forward Rob Hummel on Tuesday declared that the surgery "went perfectly."

Dr. David Altcheck told Lafayette Journal & Courier writer Jeff Washburn there were no complications.

"Robbie had a meniscus tear as well," Altcheck told the paper. "We repaired that, and the ACL surgery went perfectly. Now, let's just hope he is on his way to a speedy recovery."

Hummel could return from New York City and be back in Mackey Arena for the men's game on Sunday. He is expected to return to classes next week.
