Carson elected to leadership post in black caucus

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Democratic Rep. Andre Carson of Indiana has been elected to a leadership position in the Congressional Black Caucus.

Carson says he'll be will be the caucus whip, a job that involves securing votes and helping with political strategy. Carson says he's honored to have the leadership position in the group, which he says acts as the "conscience of the Congress" and advances an agenda of change.

Carson represents Indiana's 7th Congressional District, which covers most of Indianapolis.
