Preparation is key

Today's walk-through before Saturday's game against Army in Yankee Stadium is one of the most important of the season for Notre Dame.

While the Irish and Black Knights will not be dealing with the tight end-zone-to-wall problems Illinois and Northwestern have in Wrigley field, a football field squeezed into a baseball stadium does need some extra planning.

"It's going to be good to get familiar with the venue, and kind of get all those, 'Wow, I'm playing Yankee Stadium,' out before you show up there for the game," quarterback Tommy Rees said.

Coach Brian Kelly said the walk through will also be important to establish how he will communicate with his coaches in the press box during the game.

"Communication on a play-to-play basis is very, very important," Kelly said. "As you know, I'm a play caller from the field. I rely on information. That is going to be something we walk through on Friday, and we are going to get that handled. We are in New York City on a frequency on your headset you want to make sure you are not getting an in-and-out signal."
