Big crowd for 4A semistate

HAMMOND – More than two hours before the Class 4A semistate game between Bishop Dwenger and Hammond Morton, the faithful began filling into the field-turf stadium.

The Governors, who have never played host to a semistate game or even played in one, have rolled out the red carpet for fans.

An expected crowd of 7,000 will be squeezed into the 4,000-seat stadium, with the city of Hammond lending a helping hand with extra stands.

Sounds a little like what the Saints experienced in the regular-season finale at Bishop Luers, which drew almost 8,000 fans into 3,500-seat Luersfield.

Kickoff will be at 6 p.m.
