Allergy concern prompts Jays chip recall

JEFFERSONVILLE– Krunchers Inc. said on Saturday that it recalled 18 cases of its Jays Original Potato Chips because they include seasoning that has a milk allergen, which wasn't disclosed on the labeling.

The Jeffersonville, Ind. company said it has notified its customers and is pulling the chips from store shelves. They are distributed in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. It said no illnesses have been reported. Its other products were not affected, the company said.

The product can be identified by a code in the upper right corner of the bag reading: JAN16CA542011, the company said. The company said it is working with the Food and Drug Administration to conduct the recall.

Krunchers is owned by Snyder's of Hanover Inc., which also sells pretzels and other snacks.
