Verbatim: Timing changes on Lafayette traffic lights

Statement released Monday:

In a continuing effort to improve traffic flow the City, in cooperation with INDOT, has reviewed the Time of Day traffic patterns on US 27 (Lafayette St.) from Pettit Avenue to Anthony Boulevard.

The cycle lengths for the traffic signals on US 27 will now be coordinated with the signal timings in the Central Business District.

A change that motorists should be aware of is the left turn for northbound Lafayette St. traffic at Anthony Blvd. will become a ‘Lagging Left’. This means the left turn arrow will turn on at the end of the through phase instead of at the beginning.

These signal timing changes, which will take place today, Nov. 22, 2010, should improve the travel time efficiency and lower fuel consumption for motorists.

For further information or for problems that may develop contact the Traffic Engineering Department.
