Elmhurst alive and kicking (in AP poll)

Despite not having an operating school, Elmhurst is still getting votes in the Associated Press boys basketball preseason poll.

Elmhurst, which advanced to the Class 3A semistate last season, closed as a school in the spring.

Because of an oversight by the AP, the program was still one of the choices for the first basketball poll of the season and the former Trojans received 46 votes, the most for any northeast Indiana 3A school.

Elmhurst was only 18 votes out of the top 10 and in the 13th position, even ahead of defending SAC regular-season champion Harding's 25 points.

Elmhurst's coach (Shabaz Khaliq) and top returning player (senior Antonio Wilson) are now leading the North Side program.
