Purdue leads Southern Illinois at halftime

No. 10 Purdue made a furious rally in the final four minutes to take a 36-28 lead over Southern Illinois at halftime.

The Salukis led 26-21 with 4:47 left in the half as Purdue struggled to get into an offensive rhythm.

Then Kelsey Barlow scored off a hard drive to the basket, and the Boilermakers made their four of their final five shots to surge to the halftime lead.

E'Twaun Moore's 11 points lead Purdue, but he's made only 2 of 10 shots. The Boilermakers shot only 30 percent (9 of 30) in the half.

JaJuan Johnson is 3-of-9 shooting and has seven points and three rebounds in 19 minutes. Johnson took a hard spill -- he appeared to get undercut fighting for a rebound -- and slammed his right shoulder into the court late in the half. And he was called for the foul.

Matt Painter was not happy.

But that wasn't the only call that had Painter irked.

Purdue was whistled for 11 fouls, and SIU had 14 in a half that failed to find any consistency because of the fouls.
