Purdue leads at halftime

Purdue struggled again shooting in the first half but used a late 17-0 run to take a lead into halftime.

The Boilermakers shot 37 percent in the half against Alabama's changing defenses, including a zone and trap. E'Twaun Moore made three three-pointers in the half and has a team-high 11 points. He also leads Purdue with seven rebounds.

Alabama has 10 turnovers and is shooting 33 percent.

  • Sophomore Kelsey Barlow started in place of sophomore D.J. Byrd. Byrd has a hefty brace on his right shoulder and has played only two minutes. Byrd looked hampered to even rebound and didn't even try for a rebound at one point. But coach Matt Painter has been able to play without Byrd largely because of Barlow's ability to defend taller players and freshman post Travis Carroll coming in and giving a solid seven minutes. Carroll has two rebounds and has taken two shots, though he missed them both. Carroll has fought hard in the post. His minutes already are more than he played the last five games. He didn't play against Virginia Tech.
