Ants welcome Legends

For the first time, the Mad Ants welcome the Texas Legends, who are playing their first season in the D-League.

With the Legends comes their coach, Nancy Lieberman, the former Old Dominion basketball great who, at 18, helped lead to the United States women's team to the silver medal in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal.

Lieberman is the first woman to coach a professional men's team. And so far, gender has had no effect, since the Legends come in with a 5-1 record, which is third-best in the D-League.

There is a homecoming, of sorts, with Joe Alexander. The 6-foot-8 forward from West Virginia played briefly with the Ants last season. The No. 8 overall draft pick of Milwaukee in the 2008 NBA draft was picked up off waivers by Texas, and averages 15.4 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.

Texas also has on its roster one of the biggest players in the league in 7-5 Moussa Seck, from Senegal.

See you at the half.
