Weekend hoops

A few notes from the weekend in high school hoops.

The three-time defending Class A state champion Canterbury girls basketball team seem to be reloading with some young talent.

In a 76-29 win over Bethany Christian, sophomore Bailey Farley had a career-high 32 points and freshman Kindell Fincher had a triple double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 steals.

Farley has been particularly hot lately with 23, 24 and 32 points in her last three games, all wins.

Also on Saturday, the Bishop Luers boys basketball team became the second SAC team of the season to go to the fame WigWam in Anderson and come out with a win.

The Class 2A No. 1 Knights beat Anderson 60-52 behind 21 points from James Blackmon Jr. and 12 points and eight rebounds from Evan Blackmon.

Snider beat Anderson 64-58 on Dec. 4.

Speaking of the Panthers, it was a tough weekend for them.

Snider lost two double overtime games in two days, dropping a 64-63 decision to North Side on Friday at Memorial Coliseum and a 77-73 defeat at East Noble on Saturday.

Lest I not forget the 98-96 win by Leo over New Haven in boys basketball Saturday night.

The Bulldogs outscored the Lions 34-18 in the fourth quarter to make things interesting. And if not for Luke Pepple's two free throws with 1.1 seconds left, the game would have went into overtime.
