And Another Thing

CQD ... CQD ... RMS Titanic, sinking by the head ...

This just in: The Komets lost their seventh straight tonight, 3-2 to Dayton, blowing a 2-0 lead in their own barn. Dayton trailed 2-1 after two periods and scored twice in the third to win.

The Komets are now 5-15-1 and in last place in the Central Hockey League by a full 10 points. A third of the way through the season, they're 11 points out of the last playoff spot.

And so we broach the unbroachable: Is it time to fire Al Sims, the most successful coach in franchise history?

You can say all the usual things about how it's not all his fault, and that's true. It's also true that teams in this sort of tailspin fire their coaches all the time as a last resort to shake things up. It is, after all, easier than firing all the players.

Maybe you think it's not last resort time just yet. Of course, that's what a lot of people on the Titanic thought, too.
