Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery opens today at Jefferson Pointe in the former El Patrón Mexican restaurant. The menu features steak, meatloaf, shepherds pie, fish and chips, pizza, pasta, wings, burgers and sandwiches. Regular hours will be 11 a.m. to midnight Sundays to Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For information, call 459-3985.
Chuck & Birds Market, at 4301 Fairfield Ave. in the former Hartleys, sells a variety of regionally produced meats, dairy products, breads and other specialty items. Local vendors include Gunthorp Farms, Seven Sons, Yoders Popcorn and Sechlers Pickles. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays to Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Marriott, Red River have Christmas buffets
Let the Fort Wayne Marriott do the cooking for you, in the form of a buffet that will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Christmas Day.
It will include prime rib, ham, chicken Chardonnay, crab-stuffed salmon, shrimp cocktail, vegetables, salads, breads and desserts.
Its $30 for adults, $15 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. Reservations are required; call 484-0411.
The Red River Steakhouse breakfast buffet will be available from 7 to 9:30 a.m. that day. Reservations are accepted.
The steakhouse also has this feature: Get a $10 lobster tail with the purchase of a steak, after 5 p.m. daily.
Joseph Decuis on Open Table’s ‘Best’ list
Joseph Decuis in Roanoke has been named one of the best 50 restaurants in the country, according to Open Table, the free online restaurant reservation system.
Its the only Indiana restaurant to make the Best Overall list, which is based on more than 7 million customer reviews during the past year. Restaurants from 22 states and Washington, D.C., made the list.
Other local restaurants that accept reservations through Open Table are Baker Street, Club Soda and Eddie Merlots.
Joseph Decuis is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. In August, staff members were invited to prepare dinner at the famed James Beard House in New York City.
Philmore, J K O’Donnell’s to ring in new year
Ring in the New Year at the Philmore on Broadway, with catering by Pamela Downs, whose family owned Hartleys. Pop n Fresh will perform.
Tickets are $30, which includes appetizers, party favors and a midnight champagne toast. To reserve them, call 745-1000.
If you want to celebrate twice the same night, head to J K ODonnells, 121 W. Wayne St. Theyll cheer the Irish New Year at 7 p.m. and the American version at midnight, with a champagne toast for both. Rhapsody in Wax will perform. No cover charge.
Halls Triangle Park, 3010 Trier Road, has this December special: Get a 10-ounce prime rib with two sides for $14.99. Add a 5-ounce lobster tail for $10. Plus, all margaritas and daiquiris are $3 and 16-ounce domestic draft beers are $2.50.
A Taste of India, 5515 Coldwater Road, has added a dinner buffet on Friday and Saturday nights for $11.99. The lunch buffet still is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, for $7.99 on weekdays and $8.99 on weekends.
