The Lucky Moose, 622 E. Dupont Road, will have its annual New Years Eve for Wimps party from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday. The buffet – with prime rib, shrimp, crawfish, catfish, tilapia, smoked chicken, pulled pork, salad bar and desserts – is open until 9 p.m. Its $17.95. The regular menu and other features will be available. There will be a countdown to 10 p.m. with complementary Champagne. Reservations are recommended; call 490-5765.
The restaurant will open at 11 a.m. Saturday with a $6.95 breakfast bar thats available until 2 p.m. It will include omelets and the salad bar. Enjoy a Bloody Mary for $2.
Rum Runners will have a New Years Eve party with an appetizer buffet from 7 to 9 p.m., followed by DJ music and dancing from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are $20, which includes party favors and a Champagne toast at midnight; call Rum Runners at 484-9380 to reserve tickets. After opening for lunch at 11 a.m. as usual, Covington Bar & Grill in Covington Plaza will have various specials Friday night. They will include prime rib ($14.95 with two sides), and grilled salmon and grilled tuna ($13.95 each). Champagne is available by the glass or bottle. The band Midlife Crisis will play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There is no cover charge. Reservations are accepted; call 432-6660.
Richard’s Bakery closes 2 shops
Due to lack of sales, Richards Bakery will close its two satellite locations Saturday.
They are at 5625 W. Jefferson Blvd. and 433 E. Dupont Road.
The original location, 1130 Wells St., will remain open and extend its hours, co-owner Matt Henry says.
New hours there will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
The bakery also will add a fee-based delivery service.

Smoothie King opens in Northcrest
Serving 83 varieties of fruit smoothies, national chain Smoothie King has opened in Northcrest Shopping Center, in the former Baskin Robbins.
In addition to its smoothies, which can be custom made with various enhancers, the store also sells sports beverages, energy bars and vitamin supplements.
Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Hoosier Bakery gets retail home
Hoosier Bakery, which has been selling wholesale for a year, has opened a retail shop at 2602 W. State Blvd., a few doors down from Raimondos Pizza in Tower Plaza.
The bakery sells traditional doughnuts, fritters, Hoosier Bites (doughnut holes) and coffee.
Hours are 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
