And on the last night of the old year, an old story: The Komets blow two leads and lose 6-5 to Quad City in overtime.

Paul Kelly got the winner with 2:38 to play in the extra session, beating Nick Boucher on a 3-on-1. Boucher replaced an exceedingly shaky Kevin Reiter after Reiter gave up three goals in fewer than 10 shots.

And once again, penalties were an issue. Quad City scored three power play goals in six attempts and began overtime with a 5-on-3 advantage after P.C. Drouin drew a penalty with 38.6 seconds to play in regulation, and Keith Rodger was whistled for boarding just before the buzzer.
