A man is dead after crashing his truck into a daycare center on Pontiac Street.

The Fort Wayne Police Department said officers responded to a single-car accident at 808 Pontiac St. at 7:53 a.m. Saturday and found an unresponsive man pinned inside a Dodge pickup.

According to the written statement from police, medics arrived and declared the man dead.

The man was driving west on Pontiac Street at a high rate of speed, according to the statement.

The truck left the road and struck the daycare and then hit a power pole before rolling into a vacant lot.

The case remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the FACT Team, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
